The annual class dinner, rescheduled to the February snow storms, finally took place on Saturday the 21st April 2018. Thank you to all who attended.
We filled the dining room at the Royal Irish Yacht Club, venue for this Autumn’s European championships………………………….
21 SB20s competed in the Championships which is an increase in numbers on last year and a signal of the resurgence of the class in Ireland. It was a hard fought tussle, the title decision went down to the wire i.e. not only to the last race but the last leg of the last race…..
“Not too Bád at all”
Bád, sailed by Stefan Hyde, Jerry Dowling and Jimmy Dowling emerged clear winners in the recent SB20 Southern Championships, run in parallel with Volvo Dun Laoghaire week. The local fleet was bolstered by visiting boats from Howth, Cobh and Crosshaven, swelling the fleet size to an impressive 19 boats for the 10 races spread over four days….
Final preparations are underway by Royal Ulster Yacht Club for our Northern Championships next weekend 27 & 28 May. Sixteen SB20s battled it out off Ireland’s Eye last weekend in a hotly contested Eastern Championships. With 0-6 knt winds forecast for the weekend, PRO Paddy Judge and his HYC team did an excellent job getting six fair, high quality races completed over the two days…..
Following a tightly contested Spring Warmer the Eastern Championships promises to be a cliff-hanger. All the usual suspects will be joined by 5 new boats this year, with the crews of Binn Eadir, Scorpio Beag, Artful Dodger, Sbodikins and LoFly joining the fleet…..
Hosted in Cowes (UK), from August 26th to September 1st , the 10th edition of the SB20 World Championship will welcome a large fleet of SB20s returning to its home waters of the Solent. Registration is now open here
