The Laser SB20 National Championship will be held in the Royal Cork Yacht Club from the 18th to the 20th of September. A competitive fleet is expected with up to 50 boats from clubs all over Ireland expected. Racing will take place off Roche’s Point where plenty of excitement can be expected among the fleet.

Among the main contenders will be Ben Duncan and crew from HYC, and a strong contingent from Northern Ireland including Gareth Flannigan sailing McCreedy sailboats and Peter Kennedy / Dave Cheyne, Local Sailors Ronan and Killian Collins will be in the hunt sailing in their home waters and a strong showing can also be expected from Sean Craig and crew from the Dun Laoghaire.

Sponsored by Laser Performance and the Matthews Centre, competition at the top of the fleet will be intense with the added bonus of a new jib for first overall courtesy of Laser Performance and excellent prizes sponsored by the Matthews Centre.

The social side will also be busy with the National 18 Class Championship taking place the same weekend. A beer bash followed by a class dinner in conjunction with the National 18 class will take place on Saturday Night is sure to keep going into the early hours.

Crane In will take place on the RNLI pier in Crosshaven which is located 200m from the Yacht Club on the way into Crosshaven Village.

The crane will operate at the following times

Thursday 17th     15:00 – 21:00
Sunday 20th    15:00 – 21:00

After launching, boats can motor up to the club marina where berthing will be provided. Please ensure that adequate fenders are used as rafting of boats will be required.

Boat trailers should be moved to the club car park immediately after launching. This is located on the Carrigaline side of the Dinghy park where an area will be allocated for these. Each competitor will be issued with a tag for their trailer at registration. This tag is to be attached to the trailer in order to identify trailers in the car park.

Competitors should note that excellent Slip launching facilities are available in the Club and that boats should use these if possible.
